Graduation Tassel

A graduation tassel forms an essential part of the graduation regalia. It can be bought from academic clothing stores available but it would be more interesting to make the graduation tassel
One simple way to do this would be by taking three strands of embroidery floss five to eight inches long each in any color of choice and thread it through a needle. The floss should then be wrapped around the finger three or four times to make one end of the tassel. A knot is then tied on one end of the loops, which will become the top end of the tassel. Several knots are made and needled from the center of the tassel to the bottom of the knots to create a hanging end.
The ends are trimmed and the tassel is attached by passing the threaded needle through the mortarboard piece’s center. The tassel should be hanged over the edge of the mortarboard. The needle can be removed and the thread trimmed on the inside of the mortar to prevent protrusion. The mortarboard sides are glued together with the tassel end thread held safely between. The mortarboard is left to dry and the graduation tassel is ready.
